Old Sarum was originally a huge iron hill fort. Old Sarum was later occupied by the Romans and Saxons and finally by the Normans who built the Castle, Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Only in the 13th century was the Cathedral moved to its current location.

Wardour Castle The unusual hexagon ruins of the castle stand in a lakeside setting. This scene of tranquillity masks a blood thirsty past, a terrible battle was fought here in 1643. Today, surrounded by landscaped gardens, Old Wardour is a picturesque location for a relaxing visit.
